Beautiful vintage 1960's Bellini cat

A beautiful and wonderfully coloured large Italian pottery cat. This cat is believed to be by Arrigo Bellini and dates to the 1960's. He has a beautiful face and a wonderful luminous green in his eyes. He has been painted in a beautiful mediterranean inspired colour scheme with a bright and vibrant use of blues, aqua and greens. He really is quite stunning and very typical of the Bellini style.

This beautiful cat is in good vintage condition and makes quite a statement in his relaxed upright lying pose. Although he is in good vintage condition there are a couple of areas to point out. Firstly the top glaze of the cat is crazed, as would be expected of a cat of this age! Additionally he has a very tiny chip to the colour glaze on his left ear exposing the white clay beneath. This would be a very easy fix with a well matched touch of paint, however in the interests of total transparency I have left this in original condition. He is very beautiful.

The base of the cat is hand marked with 'Italy' and the number 36 in black paint. He measures approximately 22cm long and 15cm high.
