Vibrant Scheurich red and brown Lava vase

Vibrant red and brown 'Lava' vase by Scheurich, made in West Germany around the 1970's. This is a lovely item, richly and thickly glazed in a range of glazes to create a unique pattern in each individual vase within the style. This vase features a speckled light brown glaze, rich vibrant red and darker solid brown glazes. The glazes are so thick that they form ridges where they have dripped like candle wax down the side of the vase creating a luxurious and very tactile feeling finish. The glazes are super shiny and have a very smooth high gloss finish. The vase has the style number 242-22 embossed on the base.

This is a lovely vase to display as a piece of functional art, but is also highly practical and a good size to use for flowers or dried flowers. It is nice and sturdy and quite heavy making it perfect for displaying larger blooms.

The vase measures approximately 22.5cm in height and 11cm across at the widest point. The top of the vase measures 8.5cm across the outside of the mouth of the vase and has in internal diameter across the mouth of 7.2cm. The circumference around the widest part of the vase is approximately 35cm.

Overall the vase is in excellent condition, however there are a few minor superficial scratches on the glaze that can be seen under close examination. The largest of these can be seen in photograph 2.
