Pair of wonderfully charming vintage porcelain farming figures made in Taiwan by Umiari for the Leonardo Collection. Please note both of these pieces have minor manufacturing defects. These are hand painted and have beautiful faces and detail. This pair no longer have the little sticker on the base that identifies the maker and origin. These lovely figures are generally in very good condition. They retain their gold gilding and lovely shine throughout, however there are a couple of points to mention. Firstly the blue glaze on the trousers of the female figure has bubbled during manufacture and on close inspection it can be seen to vary in colour with a purple and lighter blue tinge in places. This is shown in the close up photograph. Secondly on the male figure there is a little clay blob that has been left over from the moulding process and is beneath the glaze on the left forearm. Both these little manufacture blips are not immediately noticed and do not detract from the overall effect of these lovely and quite intricate figures.
The female figure carries carrots, while the male carries fish. They both support two hanging baskets upon their shoulders and retain the original silver coloured twine. These are removable.
These are lovely blue and white glazed pieces and are to be sold together as a pair.
Please look at all of the photographs as these help form part of the description.
The female figurine measures approximately 25cm tall. The male figure measures a little taller at approximately 25.5cm tall.
Despite being hollow figures they are quite heavy, weighing approximately 1.3kg combined.
