$49.03

  • Details
A wonderful set of 6 vintage silver plated Apostle coffee spoons in their original presentation box. These lovely spoons were made in Sheffield, England and are believed to date from the early to mid 20th Century. They are contained within their original presentation box and are in very good vintage condition.

They are very pretty and beautifully made. A decorative but also very practical and useful item.

These lovely Apostle spoons each have a robed, book carrying figure on the handle, with an ornate shaft to the generous spoon bowl. On the back of each spoon bowl the item is marked with EPNS but there is no maker's mark and the maker remains unknown.

The figures in this set of 6 are all the same, well crafted and also represented on the reverse of the spoon. The spoons have a nice weight to them and would be perfect for use with a small coffee cup, or could be used with a boiled egg or even in small condiment bowls with sauces.

The spoons are in very good condition and the plate appears in good order, however they have been left uncleaned to retain the aged patina of light tarnish. One spoon has a slightly darker end to it where it has tarnished more than the others.

They are housed in a faux reptile skin box with a hinged lid and small brass coloured catch on the front. The reptile effect covering appears to be a paper or light card type material and shows areas of wear and damage, giving it a beautifully aged and vintage feel.

Inside the box the spoons sit in a black velvet lined rack with a black satin lined base, which holds them neatly. The lid is lined in a cream satin style material with an embossed card attached to show that they are plated and made in Sheffield.

The box measures approximately 14.8cm long, 13.5cm wide and 2.5cm deep. Each spoon measures approximately 11.3cm long and the bowl is 2.5cm wide.

Please look carefully at all of the photographs and the video as these form part of the description and help to show condition, colour and scale.
