A pretty, vintage, Delfts Blauw small tankard or mug. This lovely item has been decorated using a combination of stamp work and hand painting and depicts the typical scene of a boat on one side and a windmill on the other, each framed by a decorative border of swirls and flowers. The outer rim of the mug has a blue lone and there are 3 more lines around the base of the mug and hand painted decoration to the handle.
The rim of the mug has been finished with a rolled in lip. The base is stamped with a maker's mark. The glaze has a slight blueish tint to it giving the whole item a very pretty blue tinge.
The item is thought to date to the 1970's but this is not known for sure. Overall the condition is very good, with no damage to the china or paintwork, however there is some age related crazing within the top glaze, as expected of a vintage item. There are also a couple of manufacturing irregularities from when it was made. There is a small blip of clay beneath the glaze inside the mug and a couple of pin prick glaze bubbles on the side with the boat near the top of the handle. These are very minor but need to be mentioned.
The mug measures approximately 11cm long, 10cm tall and 7.5cm wide
The has a capacity of approximately 260ml and weighs approximately 276g
