Absolutely beautiful and unique brooch pendant made by Risis of Singapore. This lovely used vintage item was made from a freshly picked orchid flower from their nursery which was then encapsulated in Swiss 24K gold plate and fashioned into a unique and stunning piece of jewellery.

From looking at their website and comparing the shapes of the orchids they are now using from their nursery, it would appear that this is an Aeridovanda orchid but this is not confirmed. As the jewellery is based on a real flower, each piece of Risis flower jewellery is totally unique, just as each flower would be in nature.

This particular brooch features their gold covered orchid styled with a beautifully made delicate crystal covered swirl of shiny silver 'white' coloured metal. Their website states that their jewellery is coated in Swiss 24K Gold and Rhodium plated, which is why this item is so very perfect and shiny, however, some of their older jewellery was coated in Palladium and it is not known for sure which white metal plating has been used on this item for the silver colouration.

It appears to have been very well cared for and has no damage or wear visible. It looks completely new and unworn but unfortunately does not have the original box or documentation.

This versatile item of jewellery features a brooch pin attachment for wearing directly onto clothing but also has two solid attachment loops so that it may also be worn as a pendant on a chain in two different orientations. It measures approximately 6.3cm long, so this is a nice big size brooch that will make a statement, but it is made with such delicacy that it does not look heavy or clunky. It is very elegant.

The brooch is emboss marked with the maker's signature orchid stamp on both the gold and white metal components of the item and is believed to date from the 1990's. The company has been making items since 1979 and the date of manufacture is estimated and not known.

This particular design is no longer visible on their website and does not feature in any searches so this would have either been a discontinued style or may have been a custom made item.

The design of the orchid also features areas of the petals where they have been highlighted in the white metal over the top of the gold on the face of the orchid. It is very beautiful, catching the light to create an elegant twinkle from all angles.

The idea of a real flower being picked at perfection and then frozen forever into jewellery is just lovely.
