These fabulous gothic style candle holders weigh in at over 2kg each and measure a statuesque 38cm tall. They have four sided square based pyramid style bases measuring 13cm and the candle holder platform on the top measures approximately 11cm square. These lovely old candle holders are a matching pair, however they have been handmade and so are each slightly different when examined closely.
They have a wonderful aged look with patinated black iron and red and brown superficial rusting. The rusting looks great and gives the items an old, aged look, however, this is only surface rust and could easily be removed if desired to restore the original iron colouration or be oiled or painted if preferred. They'd look wonderful dressed with holly and candles for Christmas or Yule.
The exact age of these items is not known but they are not believed to be modern. The stem of the candle holder is made from solid metal and has been ground and engraved into the shape and design. The top and bottom of the candle holder are the same metal but are a hollow construction and have been welded into their finished shape. The base of the candle holders have a black wool/felt material covering the base.
The candle platform has a nice detailed pattern on the base and a small lip to help contain the candle. They would look fabulous with thick, long pillar style church candles or could be used with globe candles or short pillar candles. These would make lovely additions to a gothic style home and would look stunning as part of a festive table centre setting with holly and ribbons.
The wine bottle is just for scale and is a standard wine bottle size. It is not included in the listing.
