Unusual and charming hand decorated, vintage blue and white porcelain elephant ornament

A quite charming and unusual hand decorated elephant ornament made from white porcelain and decorated with blue patterns and brush work. The patterning and paint has been applied prior to the high gloss top glazing, so she catches the light and shines nicely. She is posed standing on a dais with one leg lifted and her trunk raised as if calling or performing.

She has a transfer or printed blue floral pattern to her blanket and on the dais sides, with the eyes, head piece and edging of the blanket finished by hand.

This pretty ornament is a nice size, large enough to get noticed and make an impact, but still small enough to fit on a small shelf or table easily. She is rather pretty and stands approximately 14cm tall to the tip of her trunk, is 17cm long and 7.8cm wide across the base.

The blue and white colouration gives the item a classic, clean and bright looking, Delft sort of feel that fits with both modern and traditional styles well. She would make an interesting and quirky gift.

There is no maker's mark and so the manufacturer is not known. Condition wise there are no signs of damage, although in places the patterning and painting is a little uneven. The photographs are taken in different lights as I find that light intensity plays a role in the brightness of the blue. All of these photographs and the video are good representations of the colour under different light, with the blue looking darker indoors and brighter and lighter in strong sun.
