Pretty, vintage, small, hand painted Oriental lidded Chinese ginger or tea style jar

A pretty little Chinese lidded hand painted ginger or tea style jar. This pretty little jar has been made of porcelain and hand painted with golden coloured gilding and a bright and delicate floral and butterfly design. It is a lovely little decorative item and would perfect on a shelf, however it could also be used functionally for storage of small items, such as small window keys, paperclips etc or used as a small vase with the lid taken off. The lid is loose fitting and sits on the top of the jar base.

The jar has a white glazed porcelain base and has been decorated in a very pretty mixture of colours with black outlines and golden gilding. The decoration features 4 heart shaped areas, each with a different design contained within. It measures approximately 9cm tall to the top of the lid and 9cm wide. When the lid is removed the hole in the top measures approximately 2.8cm internal diameter.

The item is stamped as made in China on the base and is in good overall condition. It is believed to date to the later part of the 20th Century and is in good, used vintage condition with no obvious damage, although there is a small firing crack in the underside of the lid from the time of manufacture. This does not penetrate all the way through the clay and is not visible on the outside of the lid. There is some age related discolouration on the unglazed foot of the body of the jar and also on the unglazed rim of the underside of the lid.

The painting and gilding is still in good order.
