Fabulous antique, large, French Keller and Guerrin Lunéville, hand painted, floral, square bowl

A fabulous antique hand painted French square bowl made by Keller and Guerrin of Lunéville, Faience, France. This lovely bowl bears the manufacturer's stamp mark on the base, which was in use from 1889 into the early part of 1900's, so this lovely bowl is most likely well over 100 years old.

This beautiful old bowl is in generally good vintage condition and has been delicately hand painted with pretty rose pink, lilac and yellow flowers and bright green leaves, highlighted with black in places. The base has the manufacturers stamp along with a yellow brush mark and some embossed letters and numbers in the clay that appears to be '1' 'J' and maybe a 'Y'.

The bowl is a lovely shape, and despite being square all of its edges are actually curved to some extent giving it a very pretty and distinctive shape. It would make a wonderful decorative item, for example as a table centre. It is very pretty, decorative and collectable.

The bowl measures approximately 25cm long and 25.2cm wide. It stands approximately 11cm tall.

Although in good condition overall for a bowl believed to be over 100 years old, there are some areas to point out. It has obviously been loved and well cared for but also has been used.

The pink paint on the rim is a little irregular from the time of manufacture and there are a couple of very, very tiny superficial chips on the rim which can be felt rather than seen on close examination. The top glaze shows signs of superficial crazing in places, this is mainly on the inside of the bowl and is especially noticeable at the bottom of the bowl. On the base of the bowl inside the foot rim there is a superficial top glaze crack that shows a little discolouration where liquid has got in and stained the clay beneath.

There are a couple of very small isolated areas where the paint on the decor has been scratched and there is a little bit of fading on the decoration on the inner bottom of the bowl.
