A really beautiful vintage Carlton Ware salad or serving bowl complete with the original ceramic serving spoon.
This lovely item is styled to look like a curling autumn leaf and blends a bright apple green with a rich reddish brown.
On the base it shows the manufacturer's mark which was used between 1969 and 1989. This set is believed to date from the 1970's.
This lovely bowl is so pretty it could also be used just as a decorative item, a catchall for keys/wallet or as a fruit bowl. It is very eye catching and beautifully coloured and shaped. A nice size for use on a shelf or table, but also a good useable size as a serving bowl at the table. It looks really striking from all angles.
The bowl measures approximately 26.2cm long, 21cm wide and 9.3cm high.
The spoon measures approximately 19.4cm long and 5cm wide across the bowl of the spoon. It also has a neat little spoon fashioned on the end of the handle that looks like where it should join the branch - this can be used for adding a little salt etc., as well as looking good.
Overall the condition is good, however there are some points to mention.
The glaze on the inner and outer bowl shows some superficial crazing due to age. The underside on the base of the bowl shows some discolouration within the crazing. There is no apparent crazing on the spoon. There are a couple of colour related glaze irregularities where the colour is almost white beneath the clear colourless top glaze. This can be seen as a couple of very small spots on the inside bottom of the bowl and also on one margin of the spoon lip. There are two small glaze chips, on the shoulders of the spoon bowl that can be seen from below and on the main leaf dish there is also a small chip on the underside of the tip of the top leaf point and another on the leaf point next to it. Both of these are only clearly visible when viewed from beneath or on close examination viewed from the top.
Please look at all of the photographs and the video as these form part of the description and help to show colour, scale and condition.
