Pretty, vintage, decorative, handmade large wooden tray

A very pretty and decorative vintage large wooden tray.

Perfect for afternoon tea, breakfast or as a gift.

It is made from thick, shaped and smoothed wood with deep angled sides and a nice, stable base. There are handle holes cut into the wood on either side.

It measures approximately 7cm tall, 44cm long and 33cm wide across the top lip. Inside the inset base of the tray it measures approximately 37.5cm long and 27cm wide. The wood forming the edges measures approximately 8mm thick, so it is very sturdy and robust, as well as looking great.

The inside surface of the tray has been dècoupage style covered in a pretty garden scene featuring potted topiary which has then been sealed with a matte sealant. The colours merge shades of terracotta with the green of the garden and the blues of the sky and water. It has a lovely Summer/ Mediterranean vibe. The picture has been bordered with a line of gold coloured gilding and this is set off with a light greyish, creamy green colour wash all over the rest of the visible areas. The colour washed sides and undersides have a wonderful slightly distressed and vintage look to them, allowing a darker colour to show through. In places the colour is a little uneven, adding to the aged look.

This is a used, vintage item and there are a few knocks to the corners and faint water marks on the finish of the colour wash, which again add to the aged look. Similarly there is wear to the paint from use on the edges.

It would make a lovely gift and as well as making a very functional tray and pretty tray, it also looks great out on display stood against a splash back to add colour and interest to an area. Would be perfect for a gift for a gardener with some seeds and gloves for example.
