Lovely pair of vintage bisque porcelain hand painted small spill vases or mantle vases

$33.62

  • Details
A beautiful and delicate pair of vintage bisque porcelain mantle or spill vases. These pretty small vases are delicately painted in matte colours over the bisque giving a satin-matt finish. Raised dimples on the vases have been gilded with gold colouration that catches the light. The vases are very fine and thin at the top. The condition is generally very good, but where the top of the Horn of Cornucopia is very thin there are a few areas where it has broken off. This is actually not easily noticeable as the edges are meant to be rough and shell like and the vases, although a pair, are not identical. At some stage small felt feet have been attached to the base and these have long since deteriorated and could probably be removed quite easily.

A squiggle or cross has scratched in to the wet porcelain on the base of each piece before it set but there are no other maker's marks.

The tallest point of the pair (the lady's head) measures approximately 12.7cm and they are both approximately 12cm long. The vase with the gentleman leaning forward is the widest at approximately 7.5cm. There is a slight rock on the base of the lady's vase.
