$42.02

  • Details
A set of three absolutely beautiful Foley vintage trios each consisting of a teacup, saucer and tea plate in the lovely 'Rockingham' pattern.

This listing is for all three trios as seen in the photographs and video.

All of the elements are stamped with the manufacturers mark, the teacups also all carry the same hand written numbering mark suggesting they are from the same batch or set. The tea plates carry a different back stamp which can be dated to 1930-1936.

These lovely hand finished teacups and plates are made from fine bone china and are decorated with a pretty floral and gold gilding design. They ooze elegance and charm and would make the perfect gift for someone who enjoys a nice cup of afternoon tea and who likes the feel of fine china and beautiful vintage design. They are very nice to hold and are a joy to look out.

They are a beautiful shape with rich vibrant colours, measuring approximately 6cm tall, 9.5cm diameter at the rim (11.5cm wide including the handle) and each hold a capacity of approximately 160ml.

The saucer measures approximately 14cm diameter and the tea plate measures approximately 16cm diameter.

These cups are in overall very good vintage condition with no chips or cracks and show very little sign of use. The gold is in good vintage condition with very little wear. There are a few minor little manufacturing marks, such as a few little bubbles in the glaze and little bits of floating transfer fragments beneath the glaze from the time of manufacture. There are a couple of small areas of very mild discolouration in the clay or under the glaze but this is only noticeable on close inspection. One of the plates has a slight discolouration spot on the gold edge, as shown in the final photograph. I have pointed out all of the obvious areas for consideration but please be aware that these are all used, vintage items and so some signs of aging and older style manufacturing techniques are to be expected.

On very close inspection there is widespread fine superficial crazing inside the top glaze all items, it looks almost a marbling in the glaze, but this appears to be at the junction between the ceramic base and the top glaze and is not obvious on the surface of the glaze.

Please look at all of the photographs and the video as these form part of the description and help to show colour, scale and condition.
