A wonderful example of mid 20th Century style, this lovely piece of pottery was made in San Marino, Italy in the 1950's. It is in excellent, almost new condition with no damage. It combines the use of Sgraffito, where the artist scratches the image through the wet clay to reveal different colours from the layer below, with Fat Lava glass and enamel style glazing. The piece is not signed. The colours are amazing and the enamel style glaze has been applied to create a raised relief to the design composition. The rim has been fired with a white Fat Lava finish giving a rough, molten glass texture.
The back of the dish has been wired to allow it to be hung on a wall if desired.
The dish measures approximately 13cm diameter and stands approximately 2.5cm high.
This listing is for the San Marino dish only. All other items in the photographs are for display or size comparison purposes only and are not included.
Please look at all of the photographs and the video as these form part of the description and help to show scale, colour and condition.
