Absolutely beautiful Redfern and Drakeford Ltd Balmoral China trio. The item was made in Longton, Staffordshire, England and the pottery stamp markings on the base date the set to between 1909 and 1933. All 3 items of the trio are numbered 7242 in hand written paint on the base.
Perfect for adding a special touch to afternoon tea or as a gift for someone who loves to drink their tea from a delicate cup rather than a mug.
The set consists of a tea cup, saucer and side plate beautifully decorated with a fluid floral pattern with russet red flowers and buds, emerald green leaves and black and gold leaves. These are gilded with gold colour and set within a a boarder with more gold, black and russet red and brown decoration.
The pattern is very pretty and delicate when studied closely with all its little intricacies, yet appears quite bold and extravagant when viewed from a distance at first glance. This means that when the cup and saucer is being held and used, the user gets to explore and enjoy all the lovely little details in the design.
The cup holds approximately 160ml and measures approximately 10cm at maximum width including the handle. The diameter across the top of the bowl of the cup is approximately 8.6cm.
The saucer measures approximately 13.5cm in diameter and the side plate measures approximately 17.5cm in diameter.
The set is in good vintage condition for its age although there are some areas to point out. The gilding is in very good, but used, condition. The pattern is still lovely and vibrant but there are a couple of places where during manufactures stray tiny blips of transfer have attached out of place.
There is some slight superficial crazing to the bottom of the side plate and the saucer and there is a tiny hairline crack in the margin of the plate. The saucer has a tiny star crack in the bottom of the saucer. Both of these are only visible under close inspection.
Please look at all of the photographs and the video as these form part of the description and help to show condition, colour and scale.
