A very pretty 'apple blossom' leaf design salad plate in green, made by Carlton Ware, in England.
This design was part of the floral embossed Art Deco range of 'salad ware' made from the 1920's by the company. This particular back stamp was in use between 1935 and 1961', although the actual date of manufacture of the piece is unknown. There is an impressed design number '1650' on the back and although the plate was made in England, it states that the design is registered in Australia.
The plate is deeply embossed with a detailed floral and leaf design and has a bark effect brown coloured handle that fits beautifully into the hand. This would make it perfect for holding at a buffet or for using to pass around canapes etc.. It is very pretty and would make a lovely addition to the summer table, or for alfresco dining on the patio.
The embossed detail has been carefully hand painted and the whole effect gives off a bright, fresh and fun vibe.
This lovely little dish would also work well as a trinket tray, or to hold keys, or a kitchen sponge etc..
The plate is in lovely vintage condition, however there are a couple of small areas along the under edge where the surface glaze has been damaged and these can be seen best if you zoom in on the serrated edges in the 4th and the last photograph where the photographs are taken from below.
The plate measures approximately 18cm in length, is 11.8cm across the widest part and approximately 1.8cm high.
