Beautifully crafted vintage handblown hollow and coloured glass cockerel, probably Murano

A beautifully crafted, handblown hollow and coloured vintage glass cockerel. This is a lovely piece of glass art and is a perfect size for easy display, but also maximum impact. It is a very tactile piece, being lovely and smoothy rounded on the body, yet very sharp and angular on the wattle and beak of the head. It is believed to date from the 1970's and is very likely Italian Murano, however, there is no makers mark or label and so this is not confirmed.

The bird has been handblown and where the artist has nipped off the still liquid glass on the tail, head and feet the marks can still be seen. It has been mounted on a thick base featuring 4 lobes of thick textured glass. Bubbles can still be seen trapped within the glass from its creation.

It is a lovely item and measures approximately 21.5 cm in height and 9cm at the widest point. It has a nice weight to it, even though the body is hollow, weighing in at approximately 553g and really does demand to be handled and touched.

The item is in excellent vintage condition, there is no damage. It does have slightly wonky eyes where the artist has added the yellow glass discs at a very slightly different height on either side of the head, as can be seen in the front facing photographs.
