  • Details
A lovely vintage Italian Lubiana decanter made of painted glass with a glass and plastic stopper, believed to date from the late 1950's or 60's. This lovely item no longer has it's maker's sticker. It is a very pretty piece of mid Century glassware and is in generally very good condition. The glass has a very pretty star shaped base that smooths out into a lovely rounded body before rising up into a long neck. The stopper is made of hollow glass with a plastic stopper that fits very snuggly into the neck of the decanter. This is a moulded glass decanter and the seams and other mould details can be seen in the glass in places.

The decanter has a wide band of cranberry paint or transfer around the body with a white overpainted pattern of abstract leaves or berries. The pattern is finished off with several bands of gold coloured gilding. The glass and stopper are in very good condition but this is a vintage and used item and so there are some signs of age and wear. The gold banding is in generally good condition but with some signs of wear in places. Similarly the painted patterning on the body is generally good, but with a few small areas of wear. This is shown in the photographs.

The decanter measures approximately 32.3cm tall in total, 26.8cm without the stopper in, and measures approximately 12cm at the widest point. It weighs approximately 695g empty and holds approximately 800ml, so it would hold a full average 750ml bottle of wine comfortably.

Please look at all of the photographs and the video as these form part of the description and help to show condition, colour and scale.
