Vintage large teacup plant pot holder, hand painted

A pretty, large, teacup style plant pot holder, although it could of could of course be used to drink tea from too! This pretty china cup holds approximately 950ml comfortably and has an ornate handle and pedestal foot. I think it is designed for holding a plant pot and would hold a 12cm diameter pot. It would make a lovely little vintage gift coupled with a pot of supermarket herbs or small succulent. It features a transfer pattern of violets that has been finished by hand with a lovely rich violet colouration. There is a subtle moulding pattern in the china around the top of the outer cup and it has been finished with a gold coloured gilding on the rim and handle. Much of this has been worn away but can still be seen in places.

It has a nice vintage look about it. The china and glaze have some small dark mineral inclusion flecks in places and the foot and rim are slightly roughened in places from use.

The cup measures approximately 16.5cm across the widest part including the handle and stands approximately 10.6cm high.
