A quirky vintage 1970's china tea caddy styled in the shape of a seated oriental figure. This lovely item was made by Sadler, England and is marked with the registered design number and maker on the base. It is in lovely condition and would make an unusual statement piece in the kitchen or a great gift filled with green tea or other goodies.
The head and top of his shoulders lifts off and forms the lid. It is glazed with a lovely brown gloss glaze inside and out. He is seated on a circular pedestal base making the figure very stable for use and giving plenty of storage space for teabags etc.. It is marked TEA in an oriental style font on the front of the base.
This lovely tea caddy measures approximately 14cm deep, 16cm wide and stands 20.5cm high.
This is a vintage item and has been used but well cared for. There are minor signs of use, although it is in very good condition with no chips or damage. One thing to note is that inside the lid collar there are a couple of small blobs of clay that had not been cleaned away before firing and glazing. This is not damage and was part of the manufacturing process and is only noticeable on close inspection of the underside of the lid.
