Ernest Oscar Brody of Ohio, USA, began manufacturing floristry glass items in the late 1950's. This lovely pedestal vase is made of pressed and moulded green glass and was originally designed to hold an elegant display of flowers. An oasis or frog could be used to support the arrangement in the bowl and it would look elegant and refined as a centrepiece or on a side table. The glass is quite thick and has an attractive waved effect design pressed into the outside of the bowl. The pedestal has a fluted effect and a nice wide stable base. The moulding of the glass is quite rustic. There are a few wrinkles in the glass from the pressing process and also the seams of the mould can be seen.

Of course it doesn't need to be used for flowers and could also be used as a decorative item, or to hold a potted plant, or as a bowl for fruit or sweets for example. It could even be used to hold decorative baubles etc.. The manufacturer's mark is moulded into the glass on the base.

It stands approximately 14.5.cm high and has a diameter of approximately 14.5cm.

Although this is a practical item that would look fantastic used at the table, it is also a lovely decorative and collectable piece that would look great displayed empty on a shelf or table. It would make a practical, pretty and unusual vintage gift. Overall it is in very good vintage condition with no chips, cracks or damage.
