A lovely mid 20th Century piece of pottery hand decorated with a beautiful blue paint and a bronze lustre glaze. It is a lovely and very unique item in an unusual pattern.
The piece features two manufacturer's back stamps. The bowl was made by Johnson Brothers and as was common at time, was then bought, decorated and sold on by Grays Pottery. The bowl measures 23.2cm in diameter and approximately 12.5cm high. It is a useful size for salad or serving vegetables but is very pretty empty as a decorative piece. The bronze lustre is repeated on the rim, the foot of the bowl, and also within the decoration both inside and out.
Overall it is in very good vintage condition with no chips, cracks or crazing, although there are some minor signs of use such as tiny superficial scratches on the glaze at the bottom of the bowl and there are a couple of small blips in the glaze from the time of manufacture. The lustre is in good condition with minimal signs of wear.
