A lovely antique cake stand or compotier made in Breslau and believed to date to the late 19th Century . It has been decorated in a lovely emerald green ribbon pattern with rope intertwined and then hand painted with a pink around the rim of the bowl, the pedestal foot and on the stem of the pedestal over the feathered patterning. A really lovely and unusual item. The top has a deeper bowl shape than would be expected of a plate so it may well be a compotier or fruit stand. The moulding on the pedestal is lovely.
It is a little smaller than a standard modern dinner plate and measures approximately 24cm diameter and stands 11.5cm tall.
It is in good vintage condition overall but has lost some of the pink glaze from around the rim edges and shows heavy crazing at the glaze ceramic boundary throughout, although this is actually very beautiful and I think in this case part of the charm of the piece.
Additionally from some angles the plate is slightly wonky on the pedestal, again this adds to the charm.
