A lovely vintage ceramic kitchen storage canister from the 1970's/early 80's by Howard Pottery (it had become part of the Taunton Vale group at this point). This pretty jar is in the shape of a milk churn and is made of a light cream heavy ceramic decorated with an aubergine/burgundy coloured glaze and a black print country store scene pattern on the front and back. The lid still has the original lid seal which has lost some of its strength over the years and although sealing the lid of the jar fairly well it can be pulled off very easily. The ceramic has been glazed with a transparent gloss glaze and this has developed some significant glaze crazing inside and out with some areas of discolouration within the crazing, giving it an antiqued look and adding to the charm. It would be perfect as a decorative piece, or to store dog biscuits, teabags etc..

It is quite heavy and measures approximately 22.5cm tall to the top of the lid and 15.5cm across the widest part of the handles.

Other than the glaze crazing and deterioration in the lid seal it is in good condition with no chips or damage.

This listing is for the lidded kitchen canister only. All other items in the photographs are for display or size comparison purposes only and are not included.
