  • Details
Beautifully simple and elegant jug with a heavy white glaze on a terracotta colour base. The jug is from the Villa white range by Dansk Portugal. This range was manufactured between the late 1990's and early 2001, when the style was discontinued. The company was formed in the 1960's and was well known for their simple scandi inspired, high quality and durable tableware items. The style is as fresh today as when it was made and would blend well into modern or traditional country house decor.

Would be perfect and look great full of iced tea or lemonade for alfresco dining too.

The jug is heavy and in good vintage condition. It is perfect for use as a jug for serving sauces, water or other liquids at the table or for use as a decorative item or flower vase.

The thick walls of the jug are good for retaining the heat or cold of the contents, helping to maintain the serving temperature for longer.

There are no chips or cracks, however there is a tiny pinprick sized dimple left over from the glazing process in the outer glaze to the front of the jug (shown in the photograph of the front of the jug beneath the pouring lip). This has not occurred as a result of damage, but is left over from where the item was held during dipping in the glaze. This is only in the outer glaze and does not involve the clay base or internal glaze.

It holds 1 litre comfortably. 1 litre of water fills the jug to the line where the body and beginning of the neck of the jug meet, so it could hold a little more up to the lip. The jug is fully glazed inside and has a thick dipped white glaze to the outside with a feature bare section of the base terracotta coloured clay to the handle and the foot of the jug. This adds interest and texture to the item. The glaze is thickly applied on the outside with slight undulations in places where the dipped jug has retained more glaze.
