A beautiful vintage ironstone "Indies" trio by Johnson Brothers comprising a teacup, saucer and tea plate. All 3 are in lovely vintage condition although as the back stamps differ they could be from different production runs and different production eras. This lovely design is in an intricate, yet simple style featuring fluted and swirled moulding to all three pieces with scalloping to the edges of the saucer and plate and an elegant shaped and decorated handle to the cup. The design is printed and comes from an original hand engraved older design featuring geometric shapes with birds and flowers in a lovely deep blue coloured glaze. It was in production between 1974 and 2009 when it was discontinued.
The teacup cup is stamped with made in England, the saucer and tea plate have a larger logo. The cup and saucer are in very good vintage condition with no crazing or damage, the tea plate has superficial crazing to the surface glaze but no damage.
They make a lovely trio set and are both decorative and also beautiful to use. they would make a lovely gift, or could be combined with some fine tea or coffee, or used for afternoon tea/breakfast tray.
The saucer measures approximately 14.4cm in diameter and the tea plate measures approximately 17.2cm in diameter. The teacup measures approximately 6.8cm tall, 8.6cm in top diameter and 11.5 wide with the handle. It holds approximately 180ml.
