  • Details
A beautiful hand painted china, one cup sized, small teapot dating from the 1950's. This lovely little teapot was made by Gibsons of Staffordshire, England and holds approximately 200ml of water. It is beautifully hand painted in a vibrant turquoise green and glittering mirror finish gold. The gold is believed to be 22K, however there is no mark to confirm this.

The teapot is made of a white, slightly cream coloured china and has a pretty fluted, pumpkin like shaped base. It is painted with a design featuring alternating panels of simple little turquoise green leaves and more ornate floral gold designs. The handle, spout, lower body and top of the lid handle are decorated in the gold paint.

The teapot is marked with the maker's stamp on the base. It is a perfect size for one cup of tea and is functional, dainty and very decorative.

Overall the item is in very good vintage used condition, showing only minor signs of ageing and use. Areas to point out are that the outer top glaze has superficial crazing commensurate with age and that there are small areas of wear to the gold paint in places. On the inner top rim of the teapot base where the lid seats there is a tiny slightly darker discoloured rough patch where the glaze has worn slightly, however there are no chips, cracks or other damage.

This lovely little teapot can dribble a little from the front edge of the lid when poured too quickly and if filled to the top, so this teapot is best used without filling too full to prevent drips.

It measures approximately 15cm long from the tip of the spout to the back of the handle and is approximately 8cm tall.

Please look at all of the photographs and the video as these do form part of the description.
