Chet Cole art glass hand blown and signed stylish, retro, vintage, heavy, cobalt blue glass hanging vase 1970's USA

A beautiful cobalt blue hanging vase or water jug by Chet Cole. This lovely, heavy, vintage piece of art glass has been hand blown and moulded into an amphora shape. It has a rounded base with the pontil mark and it is engraved with the signature of the artist on the pontil scar.

The body of the vase has thick decorative mouldings into which a metal handle has been slotted, but this does not pierce the glass and so it will not leak when filled with water. Although it has a rounded base it will stand upright but is not stable and is meant to be used with the hanging attachment.

The glass is thick and has a rounded rim and lovely depth of colour. It weighs just over 1Kg empty. Chet Cole was manufacturing this style of vase in the 1970s in the USA. There are small air bubble inclusions in the glass from the moulding process.

It stands approximately 20.8.cm high without the handle extended and 24.6 including the handle. It is 8cm deep and 9cm wide. It holds approximately 430ml of water to the narrowest part of the neck.

Although this is a practical item, it is also a lovely decorative and collectable piece that would look great displayed empty on a shelf or could be hung from a beam or wall hook.

Overall it is in very good vintage condition, although this is a vintage used piece and there are a few minor signs of use. There are a few superficial scratches from age and blemishes and air inclusions from the hand blowing process.
