Pretty and quirky 20th Century crested ware Gladstone bag by W & R Carlton China, Staffordshire - coat of arms for Monmouth

A lovely and highly collectable miniature crested ware china Gladstone or carpet style bag believed to date to the early 20th Century. This lovely little item has the coat of arms style crest for Monmouth on the front. The colouring has been hand applied over transfers and there is some hand applied gilding around the handle and catches of the bag. These are a little patchy in places, but I love the attention to detail with the little painted holes in the buckle straps. A pretty and decorative little item.

It measures approximately 11cm long and about 4.7cm tall. It carries the maker's mark on the base.
