Lovely vintage ship ornament hand crafted from carved horn with wooden masts and wire rigging

A lovely and unusual vintage handmade ornament crafted from polished and carved horn. These were often made around the 1920-50's in countries such as Italy and Switzerland of cow horn, although the origin and age of this one is not known. The horn has been polished and cut to create a ship with wire rigging and wooden masts. The ship sits on a piece of upturned horn providing a stable base. The ship measures approximately 6.5cm wide, 18.5cm tall and is approximately 23 cm long.

It is in very good vintage condition with no damage. However this is a vintage item and the twisted and knotted wires of the rigging show a little discolouration from age and the metal bolts holding the base to the hull are lightly rusted.
