These lovely pieces are around 100 years old and were made by Soho Pottery at their Cobridge works. At the time of listing, other items in the range are available on separate listings in the shop. The pattern is called 'Basket' on these pieces, although it is sometimes called 'Montauban' on other items with the same pattern. This pair of lovely old small terrines or lidded soup bowls are in the rarer black and white design with gold. Please note these are old pieces of collectable pottery and so do show signs of age related deterioration and wear and tear.

Both these lovely lidded bowls are made of earthenware with a high gloss white glaze and a transfer pattern. They have double handles and an ornate handle to the lid. Both have lost much of their gold gilding, although one is much better preserved than the other. The handles on the bases of both have small glaze chips on the tips of the swirls and there are a few minor glaze chips here and there. There is a small short hairline crack in the glaze down from the rim of one of the pots which can be felt but not easily seen. At the time of manufacture it was common to stand pottery on 3 stilts in the kiln to enable the glaze to fire properly and the residual blips where these touched the pots can be seen on the inside of both the lids and bases as raised slightly brownish dots. There is also some minor superficial crazing in the glaze in both pots and lids.

The lids have a slot for a serving spoon to be stood in the dish whilst the lid is place.

The pots hold approximately 410ml and measure 18.5cm across the widest part of the handles and 11cm tall to the tip of the lid.

This listing is for the pair of small lidded terrines only. All other items in the photographs are for display or size comparison purposes only and are not included.

Please look at all of the photographs and the video as these form part of the description and help to show scale, colour and condition.
